Tips to Beat The Mid Day Slump

Today’s post is sponsored by fizzique through my partnership with Fit Approach. As always, all thoughts and opinions are truly my own. I appreciate your support of this blog.

We all know that mid-day slump, right? That time that generally falls between 10am and 2pm when all of a sudden the day just tends to drag on and on and on. It’s not quite lunch time or it’s post-lunch and we’re feeling that blood sugar crash.

While I may be (currently) unemployed, I still get that feeling. The motivation starts fading and I start to wonder if I’ll ever be able to focus on a task (or writing those dang cover letters) ever again. So what are some of the best ways to combat it? I’m so glad you asked…

Get some fresh air

It’s amazing what a quick trip outside can do! Between the fresh air and the sunshine, it only takes a few minutes for me to feel like a brand new woman!

Go for a walk

Bonus if you take your walk outside (even around your office parking lot) but just getting up and moving is so energizing. I was always great about drinking water when I was at the office because every time I needed a refill, I had an excuse to step away from my desk and get the blood flowing again. And with that, every trip to the restroom! ha!

Reach for the peppermint oil

You all know how much I love using essential oils in my day to day and peppermint is considered an energizing oil. Take off the cap and take a nice deep breath, get it going in your diffuser (if that’s OK in your workplace), or put a drop in your hands and rub them together.

Stretch it out

Basically, you want to get that body moving somehow! Roll your shoulders forward and back, stand up and reach to the ceiling then down to your toes, take some seated twists in your chair, and a few deep breaths.

Grab a fizzy protein water

I’m not kidding! I’ve been reaching for fizzique sparkling protein water lately and it’s been just what I needed! It’s light, refreshing, and contains 20g of protein per can to fuel your body and mind!

  1. I love fizzy water, I didn’t know they made fizzy protein water! I might have to check that out. I agree on the getting up and going for a walk, that is the one thing that helps me push through to the end of my day!

  2. Fresh air always does the trick. I walk to get my youngest from school. Its a little over 2 miles there and back. I get home, recharged and ready to get dinner done! Have a great week Katie!

  3. YESS the midday slump is so real! I love fizzique + a walk outside for helping to banish that slump – the power trifecta of fresh air, protein, and bubbles does me all sorts of good. 🙂

  4. I love having something different to drink than just plain water. It wakes you up in a way you don’t expect. I am also all about stretching and walking.

  5. Working from home, I need all the help I can get! Thanks for all the great tips! If I can squeeze in a midday run, that always helps!

    1. At my last job, I was able to work from home pretty often. It was always nice when I could squeeze in a short run in the middle of the day. Totally get that!
