I’m sure I’m not the only one who is thankful for the work week to go by quickly, but hates how fast the weekend flies. I came back from Easter weekend with a car full of some treasures I accumulated from my grandma’s house. I am so grateful for each thing I got, whether something useful like a new-to-me bag or something very special like the handful of ornaments, her beloved Longaberger baskets, or one of my great Uncle Kenny’s old record players and a few records.
I didn’t have much time throughout the week to sort through the pile where everything was dumped when I took it out of my car, so the big thing for my weekend was getting everything put away. This task quickly morphed into going through everything in my apartment, figuring out what I need and what I don’t, what I use and what I don’t, what I want and what I don’t, and putting those “don’t” items in a pile to come back home with me in a couple weeks to get thrown into the family garage sale pile.
I hope everyone had a great weekend. I drove home for Easter with my family and a belated birthday celebration with some friends, and really just took the weekend away as an excuse to take a break from everything – social media, emails, or even opening my laptop. I often find the idea of not looking at emails or social media as overwhelming since it means more to sort through at a later date, but sometimes just allowing yourself to live in the moment is best.
I’m a bit late (and a bit behind) on the April Love challenge, but this isn’t about perfection, it’s about connection, community and self love. Sometimes self love means skipping a day or two, taking it easy, and just going with what feels right; that’s what I did.
Today is not my birthday, Monday was, and these are the words that I wrote the morning of my birthday.
So this is 30, huh?
Did I wake up expecting to feel different? For every circumstance in my life to be different? For the things that aren’t serving me to just go poof and be gone?
No, of course not.
This Journey TO 30 has been (and still is) a work in progress to each and every one of those things. My life is not perfect and we all know I do not have all of my sh*t all together, but I do know that especially over the last two years of my life, I have pushed through some pretty rough patches and found my authentic self more than I maybe ever knew was possible or was hiding within myself.
Well, it is official friends, today I am 30. I wanted to stay on schedule with sharing my April Love photos with you all but stay tuned later this week with all of my thoughts on waking up on my 30th birthday. I am excited to share all of that with you.
I also want to point out that I have started writing on medium.com. So far, I only shared my post on The Meditation Mantra That Everyone Needs, but you never know which way the wind will blow and I may end up sharing some exclusive content over there or at least first. If you use Medium, I would love a follow! And while we’re talking about following…I’m everywhere on social media @iamkatiearnold, so won’t you come find me?! 🙂 Instagram / Twitter / Snapchat / Pinterest / Facebook
