I am exactly where I am supposed to be

My parents came to town for a couple of days last week. They brought a new (to me) desk, took my old one away, and brought me my bike which they had fixed up so I can ride it around in West Michigan this spring and summer.

While they were here, we obviously talked about my unemployment situation, the process to finding a new job, how that was going, etc.

I’ve tried to remain pretty optimistic through the whole thing, even when hopeful interviews became turn down emails, or when there was a snag with the Unemployment Office surrounding your past employers’ error. In the end, I know that everything will turn out and ultimately, this period of unemployment is temporary as I’m working hard to remedy the situation quickly.

But while they were here, they brought up a job offer that I received just a few weeks after moving to Michigan and starting at my last job. The salary was nearly 2x what I was making but I had already accepted, found an apartment, moved into said apartment, and had been at the job for nearly a month. Needless to say, I turned down the other offer. Sure I would have made more money and had been closer to home, family, and friends, but there’s a lot of other things in my life that may not have happened….

  • I may not have felt comfortable enough and in the right place to make the leap to getting my personal training certification.
  • I would not have met my boyfriend who I am so grateful to have in my life.
  • I would not have met several new friends here or strengthened the blogger-friend turned real-life friend.

I’m sure the list could go on and on, but I’m hoping you get my point without my needing to continue.

I am exactly where I am supposed to be.

My life led me here. The pain, the sorrow, the anxiety, the grief, the happiness, the excitement, the joy, ALL THE THINGS brought me here.

I read The Universe Has Your Back last year and it truly changed my view. Sure, I believed everything happened for a reason but now, I see that everything in my life doesn’t just happen for a reason, it happens to my benefit. We don’t always see it in the moment but when we look back, the puzzle pieces start to come together, we begin to connect the dots, and we see the connection from every beautiful moment.

I hope you know that regardless of what chapter of your life you’re in, you are exactly where you are supposed to be. Even if you can’t see it in this moment, I promise you, you are.

Have you read The Universe Has Your Back?

Looking back, have you seen how moments in your life led you to where you are now?

  1. Everything really does happen for a reason. It’s not always easy or clear what that reason is right away. My life is not easy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. The right job will come along for you I just know it.

  2. I’ve always believed everything happens for a reason, we might not understand it at the time, especially if it’s a challenging one, but you are right, we are where we need to be.

  3. Our lives are what happens to us as we pass through time. It makes no sense to bemoan and speculate about alternate paths; we should celebrate and savor the one we’re on. You seem awfully wise for someone so young!

  4. I’m glad you have that feeling of being where you need to be. I have a job, but I don’t love it. And I’ve never had the opportunity to turn down a job offer. I am very single and very sick of it. So there are quite a few things I would like to change. But I know I need the right thing, and sometimes I have to wait.

  5. I have seen various connections in the past that brought me to where I am now, and while I still want to change some things, I’m grateful for a lot that’s happened in the past.

  6. That book absolutely changed my life too, and I truly believe that every decision we make—both big and small—lead us to where we are meant to be in life. Love this, Katie. I’m glad you are feeling confident about where you are and I am certain that everything will come together in the end.

    Much love

  7. This is something I have always believed in and know that it’s true, we are always where we are supposed to be and everything will fall into place as it should!!

  8. “I would not have…strengthened the blogger-friend turned real-life friend” – so, so grateful for this and your presence in my life!
