Attitude of Gratitude: May 2018

Another month has come and gone, isn’t it crazy? I’m sure I’m not the only one who can say how happy and grateful she is for the warmer weather, the sunshine, and the fact that we have finally left those colder winter days behind us.

Speaking of being grateful, each night before I go to bed, I take a few moments to look back on my day and reflect on the things I am grateful for. Some days I journal this in my notebook and other days, I just take a moment or two to think about it and hold it dearly. For the last few months, I have been taking a few moments to dive into those archives from the month and share some of the big things I’m grateful for. After all, an attitude of gratitude is contagious and really helps me lead a happier life. Without further adieu, here’s what I’m grateful for this month:

  1. Being offered and then accepting new work. I’ll share more about what this looks like and how my schedule is taking a major shift soon.
  2. My parents for taking countless sobbing phone calls over the last couple of months as I worked through this period of unemployment.
  3. The boyfriend who has continued to put his arm around me, support me, and share his love.
  4. Yoga for being a guiding force, outlet, and value system for which I choose to follow.
  5. My body, which I’m working harder to fuel with healthier foods so it can recover from the longer runs in the sun and heavier weights at the gym.
  6. Having an apartment that keeps me safe, gives me a place to sleep each night and has given me a beautiful community to explore for the last year and a half. It’s time to start looking for a new roof to put over my head, but I’m constantly grateful for this space.

What are you grateful for this month?

  1. I’m glad to hear you have found some work! And I’m also happy you have such a great support system in your parents and your boyfriend, that is so important in times of uncertainty!

  2. I’m so excited to hear about the new job and am glad that things are starting to fall into place for you. Periods of unrest are always unsettling, regardless of how strong we THINK we are. Sending positivity your way and wishing you the best for the rest of this week <3

  3. It can be hard to navigate the really stressful aspects of adult, like employment or lack thereof, and still remain thankful for things we should never take for granted. Great post.

  4. Congratulations on your new job! Thank you for sharing your gratitude list. It’s time for me to do more journaling in this regard. It’s too easy to get distracted when life knocks us sideways. Those daily reminders to look at what we do have take on new meaning when it’s written down. Wishing you success in your new career adventures.

  5. I’m so glad this month is ending on a good note for you and that you had a great support system while you were looking for work. Being unemployed is HARD and it’s even more difficult when we have to go at it alone. Can’t wait to hear how awesome your June is!

    1. Sometimes, I think we just have to start where we are. Pick up a journal one day and write a few things down. Maybe it’ll stick. 🙂

  6. I, too, am so happy and grateful for this nicer, warmer weather.
Glad to hear about your work situation and happy that you’ve got such a great support system, hun.
