November 2017 Goals

I say this every month, but it’s crazy to think we’re already in November! The next two months are bound to be extra busy with my full-time job, a potential work trip to Seattle, yoga teacher training, a few events to attend with the boy, and then holiday season kicking into high gear (in my personal life and the potential extra hours at work). I’m not complaining as I am actually looking forward to every single thing on my calendar this month, but I definitely have to make sure to prioritize self care  so I can be at my healthiest and enjoy every moment and event.

Yoga Teacher Training – Thoughts After Day 1

The excitement was present all day. Today was finally the day that I would get to start yoga teacher training. Today I would finally get to start this journey. I have no idea where it will lead but today it finally starts.

I got out of work early to go to a doctor’s appointment, I stopped at Target, and then I made my way to the studio. I had never been to this (new) location so I was fine to arrive early, knowing I could either go inside or just sit in my car and scroll through Instagram for awhile, which is exactly what I did.

How to prepare for winter

Fall is in full swing in Michigan. This past weekend the foliage was definitely at it’s peak and driving around was absolutely beautiful and kept taking my breath away.

With that said, there’s no denying that winter is right around the corner. I’m not rushing it (fall is my favorite season after all), but seeing as parts of northernMichigan are expecting the potential for snow this weekend (and I know Colorado has seen it!), I’m starting to plan ahead and make sure that I’m prepared and won’t be left out in the cold.

The Importance of Prioritizing Self Care

We all have those days when we just feel off. While I’m pleased to say I am on the mend from mono (though obviously still taking it easy and listening to my body when it asks for more rest), mono meant a complete change in my day to day and it really started to catch up with me.

When you’re someone who is active and finds relief, relaxation and renewal through physical movement (running, yoga, walking), when you are suddenly forced into stillness, rest, and recovery mode, it doesn’t always go very well. Boredom quickly sets in and while an easy Netflix evening may be nice from time to time, it’s not my norm and hours of laying on the couch in front of a screen (and too tired to even hold up a book), got old quickly. It didn’t take long to feel like I was just living in my head. And we all know that’s not a place we want to spend a lot of time. 😉
